Frequently asked questions
there are plenty where these came from so please feel free to ask anything at all!
Do I need a drivers licence/special licence to drive at your track?
No, not at all. We provide full instruction and all drivers must attend a safety briefing and view the NKA (National Karting Association) safety video briefing
What is the minimum age?
8yrs old, in a Kadet kart , 12yrs to drive an adult sized kart (height dependent). Photo I.D may be requested
My son/daughter is only 6 but has driven elsewhere and is very good etc.. Can he/she drive?
No, he/she is not insured until they are 8 years old - Photo I.D may well be requested before being allowed on circuit
What if I sign to say I accept the risk?
Sorry, no exceptions
Is there a height requirement?
125cm to drive a Kadet kart. If you are in doubt, it is always best to come in and be checked out. It may be that you are 125cm but you have short legs and still cannot reach the pedals comfortably. Safety is always our No.1 priority
Will our children have to drive with adults on the track at the same time?
No. In general we do not run adults and children together, however, we DO run ‘family sessions/like-minded groups’ which means kids& dads visits are really popular here
What clothes should we wear?
Casual T shirts/sweatshirts and jeans with flat soled shoes such as trainers but avoid trainers with thick soles/wedges as these make driving difficult. Heels, Sandals and open toed shoes are unsuitable. We supply all safety clothing, Helmet, Gloves, Race Suit. All safety equipment must be worn correctly; suit zipped, helmet fastened, visor down, gloves and hair tucked in.
Is it safe/Is it dangerous?
We have very few accidents here and our fantastic safety record speaks for itself. The design of the circuit, the safety barriers, the design of the kart, the preventative maintenance programme, the safety briefing and video, the staff training, the protective racewear, the strict marshalling, the general culture of safety first among all staff, all go towards ensuring we are as safe as we possibly can be
Can my youngster use his or her own EU/BS helmet and race suit
Yes, provided it is a BS standard full-face helmet with visor. No dark/tinted visors though and the suit should be in good condition
Can we drop the kids off for an hour or so?
Unfortunately not. All children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied at all times.
What time should I come back to collect my child when he/she is a guest at a birthday party?
please consult directly with the party boy/girl’s parents.
Can I bring spectators and/or guests?
Yes, of course — family, guests and spectators are always welcome without charge
Is there any food available?
Yes. We have vending machines for snacks and drinks. For corporate events we can arrange a buffet for if required. You are very welcome to bring your own food for your event, Just make sure that we are aware of it when you book so that we can reserve space for you to do so. Of course you can always bring in McDonalds, Pizza, Kentucky etc.. the choice is yours.
